- PRESS RELEASE
As part of its successful ongoing workshop series to raise awareness and build the capacity of businesses within Dubai and UAE in the area of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) the Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry's Centre for Responsible Business is organising a seminar-cum-networking event focussing on the social and environmental impacts of the tourism sector on the cultural life of the Emirates on September 23, 2008 at the Chamber's Conference Room.
This half-a-day seminar will bring together prominent industry experts to share their views, experiences and best practices and will also explore issues and solutions to achieving environmental, social and economic sustainability in tourism. This is a new concept in the UAE and needs to be adopted to generate material income and employment in the tourism sector with no negative impact on the natural environment and local culture.
This seminar will give participating companies and other stakeholders the opportunity to learn and explore Tourism-related issues and solutions and will focus on building the business case for responsible business practices while also providing broad guidelines for implementation of CSR practices within companies. It will provide ample opportunity for companies to network, learn and share experiences.
Attended by speakers from DTCM, Jumeirah Group, JW Marriott and Dubai Shopping Festival, the seminar will not only bring views and initiatives from the government on promoting and encouraging sustainable practices, but
also best practice examples and experiences from local and international companies.
CSR is increasingly recognized as an imperative for business success; therefore, CRB offers a variety of educational, professional training and consulting services that are designed to build individual companies' capacity to implement broad CSR programmes including business ethics, sustainability reporting and corporate governance. CRB's work fosters a favourable business environment that values transparency, accountability and the rule of law.
This seminar has been designed for directors and managers from industries interested in implementing Corporate Social Responsibility and economic sustainability of tourism in their companies.
