Held annually under the patronage of HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, the MRM Business Award which is a Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry initiative and winner of the Dubai Government Excellence Programme's Award for Distinguished Administrative Initiative 2007, now expands its scope by including the two new awards of MRM CSR and MRM Supply Chain and Logistics.

The seminar, held in cooperation with the Supply Chain & Logistics Group, was headed by Mr Atiq Juma Nasib, Executive Director, Commercial Services Department, Dubai Chamber, who welcomed the guests and after apprising them about the Chamber's services on offer he invited the gathering to participate in the newly-created award of the MRM Supply Chain and Logistics. "One of the important initiatives of the Dubai Chamber is the MRM Business Award and its sole purpose is to reward the business people who have reached excellence or are doing their best to reach excellence. As the Award's name is linked to its patron, HH Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, all those striving hard to achieve excellence look forward to the great feeling of receiving the Award from Sheikh Mohammed."

Regarding the addition of the two new categories Atiq Juma said:
"For its
fourth cycle, the MRM Business Award expands its scope by adding on the two new categories and, mind you, this is not being done to increase the numbers but to acknowledge the contribution of the Supply Chain & Logistics sector to the economic development of the UAE. Last year we included the Real Estate Development category and may be next year we will focus on some other sectors that ought to be rewarded.

Mr Atiq Juma clarified the category by stating that for the purpose of this award, Supply Chain Management and Logistics refers to the planning, controlling and executing efficient and effective forward and reverse flow of storage of goods, services and related information apart from flow of funds between the Point of Origin and the Point of Consumption in order to meet customers' requirements.

Mr K. Krishna Murthy, advisor to the award, gave an extensive presentation about the Model of the award that is based on Management and Performance criteria as he also highlighting the eligibility, guidelines, and rules and regulations about participation in the new MRM Supply Chain & Logistics Award which he said can also be participated by companies who have won awards at the last round as generally there is a restriction of two straight years for winners of the award as this year the winners of 2005 becomes eligible to participate.

Entries to the MRM Award are open to all companies operating across the UAE and its free zones can also participate.
