"Activating Commercial Arbitration" is being staged by the Dubai International Arbitration Centre (DIAC) in cooperation with the Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Abu Dhabi Commercial Conciliation and Arbitration Centre and the Tunis Conciliation Arbitration Centre (CCAT).
The conference will focus on the need for expedient and effective procedures to resolve commercial disputes.
The primary issues under discussion will be the future roles of courts and legislation in supporting arbitration in Arab countries and the connection between the courts' support for arbitration and enhancing international investments to the region.
DIAC director Dr Hussam Al Talhuni, said:
"We need to develop national law for commercial arbitration in Arab countries. We will be trying our best to do that during this conference where we'll focus on the important recent developments in arbitration laws in Arab Countries, appropriate amendments to be considered for introduction to the UNCITRAL Model Law, as well as the role of regional Arab arbitration centers in promoting investment between Arab countries".
"I believe that with such a support from the UAE government and from H.E., the UAE Minister of Justice, we can look forward to a very successful outcome."
