Abdali launches 'Abdali Innovation Award'

The Award aims to encourage and drive Jordanian youth towards creative and critical thinking in their end of year projects equipping them on how to tackle the highly competitive markets they will be entering after graduation.

This move comes under Abdali's Corporate Social Responsibility program, RU'YATUK, which was launched earlier this year, and will offer graduating students with opportunities to get closely acquainted with the latest engineering and construction techniques used in the Abdali new downtown project.

Students will get the occasion to learn by working closely with the Abdali project contractors and engineers, a lifetime opportunity to get familiar with this unique construction endeavor.

The prequalified students of the Abdali Innovation Award will get financial support to help them execute their creative and innovative ideas.

The Abdali Innovation Award is a unique initiative engaged by Abdali Psc, and has enlisted the cooperation of two main universities namely Jordan University and Jordan University for Science and Technology for the first year, while aiming to expand across public universities for the academic year 2009-2010.

The Award comes as a result of Abdali Investment and Development's passion to instill and encourage creative and critical thinking in all aspects of life.

The main intention of the Abdali Innovation Award, officially launched on the September 21, 2008 is to address university students through promoting their innovation, creativity and practical solutions to architectural and engineering challenges, while encouraging their critical and creative thinking.

The Abdali Innovation Award has today a fully comprehensive website for graduating students interested in registering and has defined a Board of Juries to evaluate the outcome of the work for 6 themes offered to choose from:


1- Green Architecture and Engineering

2- Urban Development

3- Intelligent/Smart Architecture

4- Safety, Security, and Disaster Mitigation Innovative Designs

5- Affordable Building Systems

6- Architecture and Culture


Both Jordan University and Jordan University for Science and Technology hailed this initiative from Abdali, insisting on the creative and innovative drive that will be encouraged within Jordanian students to help them better integrate today's highly competitive local and regional business markets.

This move is considered a premiere from a private company and will definitely play a pivotal role in linking the academic role with real business life.

Mr. Jamal Itani, CEO of Abdali Psc. explained that the ultimate objective of the Award is to mainstream Jordanian talents in Architecture and Engineering towards highly demanding job opportunities in Jordan. He also added: "With an excellent collaboration with the University of Jordan and the Jordan University of Science and Technology, the Abdali Innovation Award will certainly make a change by encouraging university students to identify and implement solutions to real life architectural and engineering challenges and to support creative and critical work as demanded by the market trends. The Abdali Innovation Award, is considered an innovation by itself in Jordan, and will pave the way for Jordanian university graduate to pursue their ambitions and let their vision come to life.
