OITE/IE aims higher by appointing Ahmed Baabood as Chairman

Already holding a regional position as first Vice Chairman of the Union Foires International (UFI) - the global association of the exhibition industry for Middle East and Africa and as a Board Member of the Arab Union for International Exhibitions and Conferences (AUIEC), Mr. Baabood already has a regional voice and responsibility.

According to Mr. Sadiq Ahmed Khan, Director - Sales and Marketing of OITE & IE,

'His new appointment reflects good on OITE and Intevents as he has already taken OITE to play a regional role in UFI and AUIEC. With his new responsibility, OITE & IE will embark on a stronger mission of becoming the region's leader in delivering dynamic exhibitions, conferences, festivals and sport events that will address the requirements of the business sector not only in Oman but across the Gulf wide region.'

While aiming to become the country's largest exhibitions and events management company, OITE and its sister company, Intevents have effectively integrated their services and team to address the growing demands of the business sector and the growing regional market.

With Ahmed Baabood taking the lead role in steering the growth and development of both companies, OITE/IE will take on a higher set of standards that will have greater impact on the events industry, the business community and the society at large.

To his credit, Ahmed Baabood was also named Emerging Entrepreneur of the Year by the Oman Awards for Excellence in 2005, the highest private sector award that recognizes quality, competency and competitiveness. He previously served as OITE's Vice Chairman and has successfully positioned OITE among the top names in Oman. He has also been instrumental in OITE's accreditation as the only UFI approved organization in the country. Two of the Company's leading events GHEDEX - Higher Education Exhibition and COMEX - IT, Telecom & Technology Exhibition are UFI approved events, conforming to international standards.

Ahmed also serves as a Board Member at the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry including the Industrial & Promotion Committee, the Tourism and Property Investment Committee and the Business Pioneers Club Committee.

He is also a Board Member of Baabood LLC, Al Haq Trading & Contracting LLC, Apextel LLC and Patiserrie LLC. Ahmed is the chairman of Evolution Design LLC, an interior design firm based in Dubai.

An Omani national, Baabood is a graduate in Business, Administration and Finance, and holds a Master's Degree in Economic and Social Studies. Given his wide experience and numerous milestones in various sectors, Baabood will enhance the strength and dynamism of OITE/IE, taking both companies to greater heights.
