Barwa boosts its investment in Shaza Hotels

Qatar-based Barwa Real Estate Company, through its global arm, Barwa International, plans to increase its capital commitment to Shaza Hotels, which it is backing in a partnership with Guidance Financial Group and Kempinski Hotels, according to a press statement. The capital increase to more than 2½ times Barwa's original commitment is aimed at giving the partnership the capacity to develop projects worth $500m. With hotel projects in Bahrain, Cairo, Doha, Dubai, Marrakech, Muscat, Jeddah, and other cities, Shaza Hotels, a new lifestyle hotel brand that celebrates the spirit, aesthetic and art of living in the Mena region, aims by 2015 to be operating thirty luxury five-star hotels in the region and internationally.
