- PRESS RELEASE
Standard Chartered Bank has announced the appointment of Ray Ferguson as its new Chief Executive Officer, UAE.
Ferguson, 39, brings more than two decades of global banking experience to Standard Chartered Bank, one of the top international banks in the UAE.
The new chief joins Standard Chartered Bank from SCB in Indonesia, where he was CEO and Corporate and Institutional Bank Head. His career with the bank began in 1985, in the UK, his home country. Since that time Ferguson, who holds a Masters in Business Administration from Henley Management College and Brunel University, UK, has also worked in Singapore, the Philippines and Taiwan.
Ray Ferguson said: "I see my mission here to fully re-position our core businesses to align themselves with the very credible vision and increasing strategic importance of the Emirates within the wider region. I am joining Standard Chartered Bank in the UAE at a very exciting time, when we have successfully completed the integration of Standard Chartered and the Standard Chartered Grindlays business and created a fabulous franchise platform for growth. Next year also marks the 150th anniversary of the Standard Chartered Bank Group."
"I intend to further raise customer service levels here, so that they become the benchmark for the UAE financial sector. A key tenet of this will be the enhancement and expansion of our network and product offerings across the segments."
In his new role, Ferguson will leverage his substantial experience as a CEO and career banker, built through varied experience in several of the Groups' key markets, to strengthen the banks' presence in several areas, including the public sector.
Ferguson is married with four sons.
