Emirates NBD recognizes season of giving with special Suhour for charity.
Reaching out to the less-privileged and marginalized sections of society through innovative programmes, beneficial products and special functions has always been a top priority for the group, more so during the holly month of Ramadan.

This year, the group has organized an exclusive Suhour with a charity fund collection for its affluent and Small & Medium Enterprise customers that fall under the purview of its Al Shaheen Priority Banking Service. The proceeds of the two night event, which was held on the 20th and 21st of September 2008 from 9.30 pm to 2 am at the Ramadan Marquee in Ritz Carlton Dubai, was donated to the UAE Red Crescent Society for serving the needs of orphaned and underprivileged children in the region and beyond.

"Ramadan is a time for giving, and gives the perfect opportunity to leverage our contact with the region's affluent customers and help the less fortunate,"

said Mr. Sulaiman Hamid Al Mazroui, General Manager Marketing and corporate communication at Emirates NBD.

"The Suhour also gives our Al Shaheen customers an opportunity to interact with each other, and simultaneously recognize the spirit of Ramadan by helping the underprivileged," he addded.

Mr. Suvo Sarkar, General Manager, Retail Banking at Emirates NBD, said:
"We are delighted with our contribution to the Red Crescent Society and the presence of our valued priority banking customers tonight and wish them all a Ramadan Kareem, full of giving, loving & sharing."

Emirates NBD has taken the lead at the Suhour by donating Dhs250,000 for charity and had also encouraged its employees and guests at the Suhour to contribute to the fund.

said Mr. Mohammed Abdullah Al Zaroony, Manager, Dubai Branch, UAE Red Crescent Society, said:
"This is a novel idea keeping with the best traditions of Ramadan and the spirit of giving. We are very grateful to Emirates NBD for organizing this special evening. As the saying goes, charity begins at home, and we cherish this effort all the more because it is our region's contribution to the world."

The help to the underprivileged would be provided in terms of food, clothing, education and medical support to the children, depending on the specific needs of that country.

The atmosphere at the event was filled with Arabic authenticity, plush and style. Right from the choice of venue to ambience and the entertainment to the food, everything reflected the spirit of the season. The evening also served as the ideal platform for Al Shaheen service to strengthen personal relations with the clients, not just through superior products and banking facilities but also through a joint effort to make meaningful contributions to the society we live in.
