Now in its 18th edition, the mega-event will be held at the Dubai Airport Expo from the
18 - 24 October 2008. Some of the big names coming in for the first time this year include Etisalat, du, Acer, Sandisk and will accompany other brands such as Cellucom, Emax, HP, Jacky's and Jumbo.

A massive surge in the popularity of the show, amongst exhibitors and visitors alike, has meant that the event will occupy all three halls at Dubai Airport Expo for the first time. "Gitex Shopper is now well established as the premiere event of its kind in the region, and we have to stay one step ahead of the demand by enhancing the content of the show" said Mr. Helal Saeed AlMarri, Director General of Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC), the event organiser. "It is very encouraging to see big regional names like Etisalat confirming their participation for the first time, as it is a clear indication that the show is reaching out to new companies to enhance the event offering", he added.

According to Ashish Panjabi, Chief Operating Officer, Jacky's Middle East, "Gitex Shopper is an important event for IT retailers as consumer trends that are revealed through such an event are carried forward into the planning for the coming year. We hope to see more visitors across the region looking for the latest gadgets as well as consumer electronics products. By combining our competitive pricing and innovative promotions strategy including our very own Jacky's Extended Warranty, we see that this year's Gitex Shopper will be another extremely successful event. Jacky's has already booked a formidable presence in all the three halls at Gitex Shopper, the most by any retailer. This goes to prove our commitment and confidence we have in generating maximum sales at Gitex Shopper."

This year's big attraction is the interactive eSports segment called "Gitex Digital Game World". 16 regional teams will compete against each other in the game Counter-Strike 1.6 for the "Gitex Digital Game World Championship" from 19 - 21 October at the Airport Expo Dubai. Regional teams can register on-line at www.gitexshopperdubai.com. This event will introduce the growing gaming market and new products and services to the general consumer segment.

Visitors can also see the latest products, compare prices and avail of all the best bundled offers - all under one roof. Gitex Shopper has many promotions including the Gitex Mega Draw which will raffle away an exciting range of prizes ranging from the Renault Safrane, Samsung Home Theatre & Plasma, NOKIA mobile phones, Packard Bell Laptops, JVC camcorders, Canon Cameras, Microsoft X-Box consoles, Sony PS3 Consoles and a host of other exciting prizes.

Off-site parking is available for exhibitors and visitors this year in the Shaikh Hamdan Mosque parking lot in Garhoud located near the Airport Expo. There will be a continuous free shuttle service between the car park and the Airport Expo from 9am - 12 midnight.
