Bonhams expands Middle East team
- United Arab Emirates: Wednesday, September 24 - 2008 at 13:04
Bonhams, the international fine art auction house established in the UK since 1793, has announced today the appointment of Elizabeth Johnston in the newly created role of Client Manager and Sharon Murray as Office Manager, to be based in Bonhams' Dubai office.
Elizabeth will work closely with the locally based Al Tajir family -renowned fine art and collectibles connoisseurs - to further develop the company's client base across the region. She will also provide new and existing clients with unrivalled access to some of the world's most prestigious and knowledgeable authorities on fine art and antiques.
Elizabeth joins Bonhams having previously worked with major Australian fine art dealer, Savill Galleries. Her natural affinity for the position comes from her eight successful years working within in the art world coupled with a BA in Art Theory and History.
Sharon has been appointed to manage the Bonhams office in the Middle East and will be overseeing the company's operation across the region. She brings a wealth of experience and local knowledge to the team having worked in highly successful organizations in Dubai for over 12 years.
"Since Bonhams established its presence in the region with the opening of our Dubai office last year we have been committed to realizing the tremendous growth potential this region holds. The appointments of Sharon and Elizabeth to their new roles emphasizes this and we feel that their combined skill and expertise will strengthen our ability to deliver to a new and expanding client base," said Matthew Girling, Bonhams' European Chief Executive.
Bonhams opened its first Middle East office in Jumeirah last year. Bonhams Dubai is a joint venture with the locally-based Al Tajir family. Two Bonhams auction sales are envisaged each year, with the next one set for late November 2008.
