Qatar Business Women Award nominations extended to October 20th 2008

Once again the decision to delay the submission date for the prestigious award comes as a result of the large number of candidates wishing to apply for the QBWA.

The Qatar Business Women Award is being held under the auspices of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Misnad. It aims to identify and pay tribute to Qatari women who contribute to Qatar's society and economy through their outstanding professional and entrepreneurial achievements.

The award will focus on women who have demonstrated outstanding leadership and managerial qualities in their fields. The Qatar Business Women Award is being promoted and organised by a partnership comprising the Qatar Chamber of Commerce & Industry, the Qatari Business Women Forum and Qatar Shell.

The Award assessment and judging is being managed by an international award management company, The Development Partnership of the UK. Judith Barthon, General Manager said:

"We are receiving applications from a wide range of professional and business women. The interest of Qatari women to take part in this award has been staggering and we are certain that we will receive more applications before the closing date of 20th October. This greatly demonstrates the range of abilities present in Qatar."

Mrs. Aisha Alfardan, Vice-Chairwoman of the Qatari Business Women Forum, is pleased at the quality of entries received. "This is a great opportunity for the women of this country to shine. We look forward to announcing the winners who will be the new role models of Qatari businesswomen - one in the 'Business Owners' category and the other in the 'Professionals' category. We plan to honour the winners at a spectacular award ceremony on 4th December.
