ABET accreditation demonstrates a program's commitment to providing its students with high quality education. It is an assurance that the University of Dubai's CIS program meets the quality standards established by the Information Systems profession.

Prof. Omar Hefni, president of the University of Dubai, said: "We are proud to have an ABET-accredited CIS program. It puts us on the map as the first university in UAE that has earned such recognition. This is a reflection of our continuing commitment to the quality of education at the University of Dubai."

ABET accreditation is a voluntary, peer-reviewed process that requires programs to undergo comprehensive, periodic evaluations. The evaluations focus on program curricula, faculty, facilities, institutional support, and other important areas.

One of the key elements of ABET accreditation is the requirement that programs continuously improve the quality of education that is provided.

As part of this requirement, programs set specific, measurable goals for their students and graduates, assess their success in reaching their goals, and improve their programs based on the results of their assessment.

In addition to providing the College of Information Technology with a structured mechanism to assess, evaluate, and improve its CIS program, ABET accreditation enables employers and graduate schools to recognize the University of Dubai CIS program for producing graduates with the skills and capacities required by the profession.

ABET is a not-for-profit organization that is owned and operated by more than 25 professional and technical member societies.

An internationally respected body with some 1,500 volunteers, it has set the benchmarks for higher education standards for nearly 75 years.
