The event is one the largest gatherings for medical professionals around the world, and is a forum to discuss the crisis facing the global medical sector.
The event is also a prime opportunity for countries, such as Jordan, to promote their capacities in providing quality medical care services at lower costs for foreign patients.
The chairman of the Private Hospitals Association (PHA) headed a delegation of seven participants that included hospitals managers and administrative staff.
The delegation participated in workshops, networking opportunities and one-on-one sessions meeting with healthcare and international insurance companies, medical tourism agencies, and facilitators where they discussed opportunities of collaboration with private hospitals in Jordan.
On Wednesday, September 10, Dr. Abdulla Al Bashir, CEO of Jordan Hospital, signed a one-year contract of cooperation with Seven Corner Inc., an international medical insurance provider based in the US state of Indiana.
The company is one of several medical and travel insurance providers that research, locate and manage high level, affordable, medical services for their clients around the world.
The contract signed between Jordan Hospital and Seven Corners, Inc focuses on three categories of services including: scheduled services and treatments; emergency treatment and guarantee of payment; acute condition and walk in services and treatments for foreign patients in Jordan that are clients of Seven Corners, Inc.
In addition, the Specialty Hospital finalized three agreements through its participation at the conference with two other medical insurance and consulting agencies.
The first, CIGNA International, one of only a handful of companies delivering access to quality health care and related financial protection programs available to businesses, affinity groups and individuals around the globe.
CIGNA conducts business in nearly 28 countries and jurisdictions and services expatriates in more than 170 countries and jurisdictions worldwide.
The second agreement was made with American PlanServ (based in Texas), is a firm specialized in arranging provisions of medical services for residents and or citizens of the U.S. and has established and maintained a considerable network by contracting with health care providers.
The final agreement was made with Health Links International, (based in Texas) is an international healthcare consulting company specializing in consulting on medical tourism and healthcare infrastructure improvement.
This is achieved by bringing medical services experts to work together with international groups to improve processes in a variety of health related issues.
The World Medical Tourism and Global Health Congress also hosted several workshops and roundtable discussing the latest challenges and solutions to the medical tourism sector as a whole, and new medical advances made in different countries.
Among the speakers at the workshops Dr. Abdualla Al Bashir, CEO of Jordan Hospital.
Dr. A l Hammouri presented a lecture in which he demonstrated the strength and competitiveness of Jordanian hospitals, including recent JCI accreditation obtained by four Jordanian hospitals, and the availability of highly qualified Jordanian physicians.
Dr. Al Hammouri also stressed the competitive rates in Jordan for healthcare services, which have been noted as one of the best in the Middle East by the World Bank.

In its continued efforts to support the Jordanian medical tourism sector, the USAID Jordan Economic Development Program (SABEQ) supported the attendance of the management teams from several private Jordanian hospitals at the World Medical Tourism and Global Health Congress which took place September 9-12, 2008.
