The DWGC is part of the Dubai World Game Expo (DWGE), the biggest gaming exhibition in the MENA region, which will be held from 28 to 30 October 2008 at the Dubai International Exhibition and Convention Centre.

The qualifying rounds of the championship are being held in four other malls, besides TSC, over eight weekends concluding on October 18th.

Five winners will finally form the first national team of the UAE which will compete in the World Cyber Games Finals at Cologne, Germany in November 2008.

"The gaming industry is continuously growing with the adoption of cutting-edge technology and constant innovation, which explains the ever-growing interest in computer games and online gaming worldwide. Times Square Center being the home to Dubai's largest electronics store, Sharaf DG, which also promotes computer games and online gaming, is indeed a perfect venue for this kind of events. We are glad to host the qualifying rounds of the Dubai World Game Championship, wish participants the very best and hope that the UAE team puts up a good show in Germany,"

said Yousuf Sharaf, Managing Director, Sharaf Group.

The Dubai World Game Expo is being organised by Index Conferences and Exhibitions - member of Index Holding, in conjunction with the Dubai International Character & Licensing fair.
