The committee was elected by the floor unanimously from nominations submitted over the last two months.

Dr Anwar Gargash, Member of the Board and Head of DCCI's Economic Affairs and Commercial Activities Committee, chaired yesterday's meeting. Mr Ahmed Al Banna, Assistant Director General for Studies and International Affairs at DCCI, also attended.

Dr Anwar Gargash said: "Phase one of the Dubai business group programme in October and November brought industry sectors together. Phase two will see groups operate more independently and chart their own agendas with the support and guidance of DCCI."

Elected to sit on the representative committee of the Dubai Land Transport Business Group are: Carlos Salim Al Hashim, GM of Joaan General Transporting Company; Khalid Mubarak Al Jafla, MD of Mubarak & Sons Transport; Khalid Abdullah Ali, Manager of Al Mushaweer Transport; Ali Bin Beyat, MD of Allied Transport Establishment; Ali Mubarak Al Jafla, Manager of Sovereign General Transport; Eugene Mayan, owner of Tristar Transport; George Mattar, Assistant General Manager of Master Crane; and Ronnie Knowles, Business Manager of Gulf Agency Company.

Members of the representative committee will meet early next month to decide individual responsibilities.

Seven new Dubai-based business groups were set up in October and November. Phase two of the new business group programme will see each group reconvene at DCCI to elect a committee of between eight to 12 representatives.
