DM ready to welcome Eid Al Fitr

Dubai Municipality has finished all its preparations to welcome Eid Al Fitr as the different departments of the civic body has drawn a detailed plan to provide the best services to the public during the Eid holidays.

The Eid Musallahs and public areas were cleaned up and many entertainment activities have been lined up in the public parks.

Stringent food control measures have been in place to ensure food safety as also the efforts to monitor sale of hazardous fire crackers in the emirate.

Ahmed AbdulKarim, Director of Public Parks and Horticulture Department said the department has prepared a good line up of entertainment programmes to attract visitors to the public parks during the Eid holidays.

He said there are programmes that will suit all members in the family that include a variety of folklore and traditional dance troupes, display of traditional cuisine, acrobatic shows, clowns, music bands and a number of contests.

The activities in the park that come under "Eid in Dubai" also include horse and camel rides, bicycle trips and electronic games.

The General Maintenance Department has also made a lot of preparations for the smooth conduct of Eid festivities.

Juma Al Fuqae, Director of General Maintenance Department said the department always tries to provide the best services.

"We have renovated and developed a number of swimming pools in Mushrif and Mamzar parks as a good number of visitors are expected to these pools during Eid holidays. We have given special care to the safety and hygiene aspects. We have also intensified maintenance of toilets in the public parks," he said.

In coordination with the Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Department the General Maintenance Department has done the necessary maintenance and renovation works to the Hatta Musallah.

In addition, the department's technical employees have intensified their campaign in the markets, public parks, and libraries in coordination with the concerned officials of these establishments.

A number of these technical employees have been put into emergency duty to take care of any unexpected occurrences.

The Department in coordination with the Civil Defence Department is also keeping alert to face any fire accidents.

The fire fighting system in the Rashidiya Market has been renovated. A big balloon is being lifted above the recently set up temporary Naif Souq for the visitors to locate the place.

The Food Control Department has also drawn a comprehensive plan to meet the requirements of the Eid Al Fitr holidays as it has intensified its inspections in the foodstuff establishments in the emirate.

Keeping in view of the large quantity of foodstuff that come for sale in the market, the food inspectors are not leaving any thing for chance by keeping a vigil on the restaurants and cafeterias in the city.

The foodstuff that can easily get contaminated is put under strict check.

Khalid Sharif Al Awadhi, Director of Food Control Department said the department's inspectors have been concentrating more on the areas where increased activities are witnessed during the Eid holidays.

Traditional kitchens are also coming under constant check these days.

He also advised the public to check the ingredients of the food items they buy these days.

Humaid Al Marri, Director of Dubai Abattoirs Department said that as usual the department has ensured an organized and hygienic activity in the abattoirs during the Eid holidays.

He said that a strict check is done at every stage of the preparation of meat items.
