du hosts fun-filled Iftar for orphans this Ramadan

In the spirit of Ramadan and its commitment to community involvement, du, the UAE's integrated telecom operator, invited more than 200 orphans for Iftar gatherings in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The two events were attended by du employees along with their families.

The children, ranging in age from 5-12 years, were invited from the Dubai branches of the Red Crescent and Dar Al Bir and Red Crescent and Zayed Higher Organization for Humanitarian Care, Special Needs and Minors Affairs in Abu Dhabi.

Hala Badri, EVP Corporate Communications, du, said:

"Ramadan presents the perfect opportunity to bring smiles to the faces of underprivileged children. It is a small gesture from us and we are grateful to everyone who participated in these special functions, making them truly memorable."


The events were hosted at the Al Majlis Tent at Madinat Jumeirah in Dubai and Al Qasr Tent at Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi.

They included several fun-filled activities including a Health, Safety and Environment T-Shirt painting competition.

The best three t-shirt designers won a voucher each from Plug-Ins.

Other activities included the traditional story telling, as well as a special screening of the popular cartoon series Freej.

The children were also entertained by their favorite FREEJ characters who spent time with the children and posed for photos with them. All the children were presented with a du school bag and stationery kits.

Ramadan with du this year:

In-line with the spirit of Ramadan and commitment to community involvement, du is celebrating Ramadan with exciting offers and activities. The entire range of activities is being offered under the theme 'Little Things Matter'.

Iftar:

du is organising Mawaid Al Rahman (Iftar meals open for public) across the UAE viz. Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, Al Ain, Umm Al Quwain, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah. The air conditioned tents provide free Iftar meals daily within an authentic Ramadan experience, for customers and the wider community.

SMS Ramadan Challenge:

The popular du SMS Ramadan Challenge launched recently has witnessed more than 500,000 SMS hits during the first six days of Ramadan. Through this competition, du customers can test their knowledge of Ramadan, the Arabic language and UAE culture. The challenge has weekly and grand prizes to be won, apart from free credits for every correct answer.

Mobile Content:

In an exclusive partnership with MBC, du is offering mobisodes (mobile episodes) of MBC's Pocket Series 'Rabeh wa Douktora' to all du customers with 3G enabled mobile phones.

du customers can also watch Feej Season 1and 2 and Al Majd channel as part of the Mobile TV offering. Other mobile content being offered includes free Ramadan mobile downloads and free Hadeeth of the day.
