  • PRESS RELEASE

Texas A&M University's Oil and Gas RFID (OGR) Group has recently endorsed the upcoming Arab RFID 2008 Conference scheduled from October 12-15, 2008, at the Moevenpick Hotel, Dubai.

Dr. Ben Zoghi, Professor and Director of RFID/Sensor Laboratory at Texas A&M University who is the founding director of the Oil & Gas RFID Group Consortium, says:
"Oil and Gas Solution Group is glad to be part of the first RFID Conference in the Middle East region. We see that the thriving Middle Eastern Oil and Gas Industry can substantially benefit from RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology by streamlining product procurement to enhancing safety and reliability of field equipment."

Some of the key applications of RFID within the Oil & Gas industry include Inventory and Asset Control, Proactive Maintenance, Product Lifecycle Management, Personnel Control, Drill String Validation, Down-Hole actuation, Construction Management, Hazardous Material Disposal Management etc.

"Being able to tag assets and determine their location and status in real time as they travel from manufacturing floors to on-site delivery is extremely important for oil and gas businesses. RFID fits this industry because it works well under very harsh environments, and as the technology continues to evolve, it opens doors to even more possible uses," added Dr. Zoghi.

Arab RFID 2008 Conference speakers brings together leading international RFID Experts including Ken Porad (The Boeing Company), Dr. Patrick King (Michelin Tyres), Dr. Dan Engels (MIT), Sybren Tuinstra (TNT Express), Uwe Quiede (Metro Group), Stephane Pique (GS1 Europe), Harry Pappas (International RFID Business Association), Lucas Ahlstrom (RFIG Sweden AB) and Dr. Ben Zoghi (Texas A&M University).

The 2-day Arab RFID CEO 2008 conference is accompanied by 2 high-impact Master Classes by the RFID Technical Institute, USA, facilitated by "Top Notch" International RFID Consultants.
