Al Madina A'Zarqa announces new Project Director for sustainable systems

Blue City Company 1 (BCC1), the real estate development company delivering phase one of Al Madina A'Zarqa, the most significant real estate infrastructure project in the Sultanate of Oman, has recently appointed Calvin Matthews as Project Director.
Calvin will also be in charge of utilities management as well as liaison with the project's utility provider and Government Utility Company.
Calvin joins BCC1 from QP International and Parsons International where he was Senior Project Manager.
Mr. Matthews has designed and managed a wide range of civil and environmental engineering for both private and municipal clients.
Whilst at QP International and Parsons International, he managed numerous water, wastewater, infrastructure and land development projects where he directed the preparation of project plans, designs, bids, specifications, engineering reports and master plans.
He has also managed large utility operations and his experience extends to construction management, inspection, facility start up, and mechanical equipment trouble shooting.
"Calvin's considerable experience in the development of municipal infrastructure will be invaluable on Al Madina A'Zarqa and he will be a significant asset to the team", said Richard Russell, MD and Chief Executive Officer of BCC1 on Mr. Matthew's appointment.
"The chance to be in a leadership role in the development of Oman's largest development and only new city, as well as the opportunity to work with a professional team, have been significant motivating factors in my decision to join Blue City" said Mr. Matthews.
Holding a BSc Degree in Civil Engineering from Texas A & M, USA and a Master of Science in Environmental Engineering from the University of Houston, USA, Mr. Matthews has extensive knowledge and expertise as a consulting engineer in Texas and Hawaii.
Furthermore, Mr. Matthews has impressive international experience having worked for several multi-national projects in Guam, Indonesia, Thailand, Puerto Rico, Kuwait, Qatar, UAE and Oman.
