"The Dubai Culture and Arts Authority has always displayed a keen interest in participating in those activities that enrich and contribute to the cultural and artistic environment in Dubai and generally throughout the UAE."
The two main activities being organized by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority are the "To the Holy Lands" - an exhibition of the earliest photographic documents of pilgrimage centres in the East, and the "Suhour - Emirati Exhibition", an exhibition that features the works of upcoming UAE national artists.
"The two exhibitions aim at creating a well-integrated artistic experience for all visitors in Dubai during Eid," said Al Nabouda, hailing the Dubai Shopping Festival Office's initiative as another ambitious step furthering the prestigious position enjoyed by the emirate in the global cultural and tourism arena.
"To the Holy Lands" showcases a collection of rare photographs of key holy sites in the Middle East region, notably Mecca and Medina to Jerusalem. Running till November 4th, 2008, the exhibitions is being held at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC), Lobby Building 5 and open to all for free from 9am to 9pm daily. The exhibition features the first ever photograph taken of the Ka'aba, the most revered holy site for Muslims.
The 'Suhour - Emirati Exhibition' is another significant artistic get-together where up to 22 UAE artists are participating with exceptional paintings. The exhibition is also open to all for free until October 6th at House 69 in the Al Bastikiya area, near Dubai Museum, from 5pm to 10pm.
'Eid in Dubai' is organised by the Dubai Shopping Festival Office with National Bonds as a Founder Sponsor and supported by wasl, the asset management group owned by Dubai Real Estate Corporation (DREC). ARY Exclusive, Dubai Festival City, Emirates and Dubai World Trade Centre are Key Sponsors, and the event is being organized in association with Dubai Shopping Malls Group (DSMG) and Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group.
