Damas celebrates Roberto Coin's latest adventures in jewellery design

Magical Mauresque

Mauresque draws inspiration from Muqarna - the intricate 15th century weaving tradition of Andalusia, Spain. Superbly fusing detail and colour, it features yellow gold, diamonds and exotic gems of every hue in puffed pendant chains and rings.

The maestro touches new heights of creativity in the collection as ornate rings spin a magical weave of rich yellow or rose gold mesh over the wearer's finger, hedged on either side by an intricate thread.

On this weave he places a sumptuous and superbly faceted precious stone. The highlight of the collection is an elaborately 'spun' disc dotted with an exotic array of colourful gems which is in turn strung on a pendant chain replicating the intricate 'Muqarna' weave.

The collection has a deeper significance for the region as the 'Muqarna' weave pattern was originally used in prayer rugs. Intriguing aspects such as this make every Roberto Coin jewel even more special and a cut above the rest.

Incredible Ikebana

Roberto Coin's Ikebana collection pays tribute to the Japanese art of flower arrangement and blends bold, intense colours with harmonious forms to present dramatic creations. It combines interestingly evolved forms with bold colour contrasts evoking the principles of minimalism.

An art form developed over thousands of years, Ikebana emphasises shape, line and form, while its structure is based on a scalene triangle whose three points indicate heaven, earth and man.

Combining pink gold settings with pave diamond, onyx, coral and turquoise, the collection offers an emotively Oriental spread of rings and drop earrings exuding pure sophistication.

Hot couture

Haute Couture, on the other hand, pays tribute to high-fashion in one-off jewels crafted in pink and white gold, and lavishly adorned with diamonds and choice gems.
