Sixteen regional teams will compete in the popular game Counter-Strike, from 19-22 October 2008 for the Dhs20,000 prize. In addition, the top-four regional teams will then take part in the Global Challenge Tournament 'INTEL Extreme Masters III' on 22-24 October 2008 where they will compete against some of the world's greatest players. The winners of this Middle East leg of this competition will share prize money of approaching Dhs200,000.

DWTC has partnered with Europe's leading Computer Gaming League, The Electronic Sports League (ESL), to organise the one of the most exciting game tournaments in the Middle East as part of Gitex Digital Game World.

Gitex Digital Game World will feature one of the most advanced professional platforms for the fast-growing esport market. The event will use advanced interactive technology to link thousands of gamers during Gitex Shopper at Airport Expo.
Taking place simultaneously at Gitex Technology Week, companies and professionals interested in the business side to this market can meet, exchange ideas, see live demonstrations of digital gaming as well as take part in the developers forum which is part of Gitex Technology Week Global Conference programme.
Gitex Shopper 2008 will be held at the Central, West and East halls in Dubai Airport Expo from 18-24 October 2008 and will open its doors from 11am to 10pm from 18-23 October and from 3PM to 10 PM on 24 October.
Gitex Technology Week opens 19-23 October 2008, from 10am - 7pm daily. The event is open to trade and business professionals only and takes place at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre.
