Amadeus charts out growth plans for Middle East hub

Amadeus, a global leader in technology for the travel and tourism industry, today announced the appointment of Ahmed Youssef as Amadeus' Head of Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) Project Implementation, reporting to Fernando Cuesta, Head of Middle East and Africa, at Amadeus.

Based in the Dubai's Amadeus Regional Hub, Ahmed Youssef will oversee and drive the project of the Arab Air Carriers Organisation (AACO) partnership with Amadeus, where 13 regional member airlines (Air Algérie, Afriqiyah Airways, EgyptAir, Etihad Airways, Kuwait Airways, Libyan Airlines, Qatar Airways, Saudi Arabian Airlines, Sudan Airways, Syrian Arab Airlines, Tunisair, Yemen Airways and Royal Air Maroc) selected Amadeus, as their exclusive distribution partner in a pioneering 10-year agreement.

Ahmed Youssef will be responsible for the implementation of the AACO project in the Middle East and will be closely involved in helping customers to migrate to Amadeus.

Amadeus established its Middle East Regional Hub in Dubai in May 2008 to cater to all levels of region-specific customer needs and provide unrivalled support to customers with tailor-made solutions.

Ahmed Youssef has an extensive knowledge of the travel industry with a career track record spanning 14 years of regional work experience. Youssef's past work experience involves successful stints at leading travel agencies in the Middle East where he was Operations Director for Egypt and Head of e-Commerce and Regional Operations.

Commenting on the appointment, Fernando Cuesta, Head of Middle East & Africa, Amadeus, said, "With the travel sector in the Middle East -where Amadeus is the only GDS with a growing market share in the last seven years- undergoing a complete transformation, the timing cannot be more appropriate.
