The announcement ceremony will be held under the patronage of Economy and Trade Minister Mohammad Safadi, and in collaboration with the Swiss Secretariat of Economy and Trade.

With this accreditation, LibanCert/Quacerta becomes the first Lebanese certification body to be accredited to ISO 65 by the International Organic Accreditation Service (IOAS), the independent accreditation body set up by the International Federation of Organic Agriculture Movement (IFOAM).

Its certificates will be accepted in the European Union.

Operating under the umbrella of the American University of Beirut, LibanCert was established in November 2005 and has, to date, inspected and certified more than 100 operators of organic farming in Lebanon and the region.

LibanCert/Quacerta is a Lebanese Inspection and Certification body. It is supported by the Swiss Government.

LibanCert/Quacerta is run by full-time, qualified, professional Lebanese staff.

Its mission is to provide affordable, internationally-accredited certification to all operators in organic farming, including farmers, processors, traders, and exporters and importers, in Lebanon and the region.

It aims to help organic farmers in the Arab region to compete in the quality of their products, so they could penetrate new markets with competitive prices and greater profit.

LibanCert/Quacerta collaborates with FiBL, the Swiss Organic Agricultural Research Institute, for consultancy services and with bio-inspecta, the internationally-renowned Swiss organic certification body.
