The Marine Agency at Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) will be holding training courses covering all marine fields, under the supervision of Jordan Academy for Maritime Studies (JAMS) in October 2008.

It was reported by Sultan Musabbeh Al-Kutbi, Director of Registration & Licensing Dep't at RTA Marine Agency, that the Agency will hold four training courses in October 2008 lasting for one week, where 52 participants are expected to take part.

Al-Kutbi said:
"These courses span several topics such as Secure Safety Management of Boats Management & Operation, Crises Management & Emergency Procedures, Investigation in Marine Accidents, and Environment Management System."

Al-Kutbi added, "This course is one of the key specialized courses in marine safety, safety management, environmental management, and crises & emergency management. The Agency focuses much attention on these courses as they play a key role in maritime safety industry. Moreover, they provide good educative exposure to all Marine Agency employees."

"The objective of holding these courses is to raise the awareness level of safety & environment matters, train employees on the best methods of secure safety management and how to manage crises and emergency cases. The Agency held a Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping (STCW) course in maritime safety last March, where 300 operators took part. The Course covered four main courses, namely: First Aid, Fire Extinguishing, Safe Boat Driving, and Personal Skills & Social Relations courses, so that participants could be certified as STCW holders. All these in-house training courses were run in a timetable approved by the RTA and covered theoretical as well as scientific aspects," added the Director of Registration & Licensing Department.
