CEO Ghassan Sakhnini described the tower as an 'expression of art and culture' and said Tameer would be moving its global headquarters into the commercial part of the tower once completed.
The company said it was 'not ready' to outline how the Anara tower was more environmentally friendly, adding that 'many features were still being introduced' into the design. However, he said that it would have some similar features to the Bahrain World Trade Centre, also designed by Atkins and famous for its external wind turbines.
Asked how he thought the current financial turmoil happening in major markets would affect plans to develop the building and whether it could impact people investing, he told AME Info: 'I don't think with a project of this nature it will be affected by the slowdown.'
Tameer also gave updates on two existing projects, Podium and Eye Park, both located in Dubailand. The Podium Tower (pictured below) will have the largest media screen in the world, visible from 1.5km on its facade. The whole project is due to be completed by the third quarter of 2011.

Eye Park, in the Arjan district, is six towers facing each other. All are facing the central Eye and the project is LEED Silver certified, again making it an environmentally friendly development. That will be ready by Q 2012.
