His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman, Executive Council, with His HIghness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman, Dubai Aviation City Corporation, and Abdulla Al Falasi, DWC Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at the DWC Golf City concept launch during Cityscape Dubai 2008.
DWC Golf City, through its unique real estate design, will provide a retreat away from the busy, polluted, car congested, hectic lifestyle of the emirate.

Khalid bin Harib, CEO, DWC Real Estate said on the occasion:
"DWC Golf City is a far cry from the unhealthy pace, hectic traffic, and daily grind of commuting from home to schools, and shops and workplaces. Its iconic indoor leisure gardens, five world-class golf courses, five-star hotels and health spas are interwoven with an unmatched range of luxury villas and penthouse apartments."

Using sustainable design principles DWC Golf City provides its residents with a healthier lifestyle which allows people to move and congregate in shaded cool environments whilst engaging in a wide range of recreational activities.

Conceived by the DWC Real Estate team the idea was further enhanced by an international dream-team of urban designers and specialist consultants such as sustainability experts PHA, golf course architect Simon Gidman Associates, specialist Dubai Golf operators IGLS, golf business analysts KPMG, specialist 3D animation company Squint Opera and interactive model specialists H&H Partners.

"The development will be a smart and intelligent city with state-of-the-art telecommunications and media installations which will allow a free flow of communication and information thereby avoiding wasted time and energy for its residents and guests,"

said Ahmed Saeed, General Manager, DWC Golf City.

"From the use of natural sources of energy such as wind and solar, to meticulously laid out accessibility links of all its facilities through shaded walks, its very own light electric rail system and electric-powered golf carts, DWC Golf City will make its occupants leave those harmful carbon-monoxide puffing cars behind, yet still be able to travel around the city easily and enjoy its facilities."

With an overall concept meant to provide sports and leisure activities, together with relaxation and well-being facilities, as well as eco-friendly villas to provide families a wonderfully relaxed residential retreat, DWC Golf City combines the serenity of nature with futuristic technology to make the development a truly self-contained city.

"Apart from having the most number of golf courses in one project, the concept of 'green' at DWC Golf City is not just all about the lush trees and grass around it, but the totality of its unique healthy lifestyle offering," explained Saeed.

DWC Golf City will announce the signatures for the golf courses through the rest of the year and commence development by December 2008. The city will be fully occupied by around 2015 when the DWC-Al Maktoum International Airport will be completely operational.
