Smoking ban violators face fines

Individuals who violate the smoking ban in public places in the UAE emirate of Ras Al Khaimah will be fined Dhs5,000 or more, a municipality official told Khaleej Times. The ban, which went into effect on Sunday, applies to hotels, restaurants, cafes, shopping malls, sports halls, men and women's salons and other enclosed public places, said Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi, Chairman of Ras Al Khaimah Municipality.
