The certification underlines IDL's efforts to promote diamond trade through ensuring quality and customer confidence.

An initiative launched by the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) in 2007, IDL provides diamond trade and jewellery retailers with state-of-the-art grading services and certification to assure customers of the quality of the diamonds and diamond jewellery they purchase.

Peter Meeus, CEO of IDL, commented:
"The ISO 9001:2000 certification validates IDL's strict adherence to international best practices in quality management. Our international team of experts and presence in the world's leading diamond centres help us to consistently improve our processes and meet customer expectations on quality and value for money."

"With our grading and guarantees passing the most independent quality audit by a third party, IDL certified diamonds and jewellery will be trusted worldwide for their quality and authenticity. It will also enhance Dubai's reputation as a centre of diamond and jewellery trade," he added.

IDL received the certificate from Lloyd's Register Quality Assurance (LRQA). ISO 9001:2000 specifies the quality management system (QMS) to be incorporated by organisations to maintain and improve product and service quality. The certification is granted after a rigorous evaluation by independent auditors, appointed by the International Standardisation Organisation (ISO).

The IDL certificates, available in English and Arabic, define the 4 Cs (carats, colour, clarity and cut) of polished diamonds and diamond jewellery, thus guaranteeing their quality and value.
