The final leg of the three tier competition to identify the best hotel concierge professionals in Dubai is to be held at the Dubai Police Officers Club at Al Wasl on Monday 13th and Tuesday 14th October.

Executive Director for Training Solutions for Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing, Mr Ibrahim Yaqoot, said:

"The ongoing success of this competition reflects the commitment of five star hotels in Dubai to improve the service standards of the hospitality industry. This coincides with our department's mission to provide unique visitor experiences and quality service. Well informed and satisfied tourists will have a positive image about Dubai as a destination, as well as the hotel itself".

The format of day one is for three sessions to be held with thirteen hotels at each.

During each period every contestant will complete an individual multi-choice question paper about the history, culture and attractions of Dubai and the UAE, followed by individual presentations on specific situations they may encounter at work against the clock.

At the end of the 13th October the top scoring six teams will be invited to return for day 2 to go head to head against each other.

All the scores from both days will be accumulated with the Mystery Shopping scores to identify all of the winners.

The main awards are for the Hotel Concierge Team of the Year which will be awarded with Dhs20,000 in prize money and an engraved trophy and Individual Concierge of the Year who will win Dhs12,000 prize money and the chance to attend the to the International Clefs D'Or Congress 2009 in Hangzhou, China, including accommodation and flights; which is run by the Union of International Hotel Concierges [UICH].

"We follow a strict marking system to ensure complete fairness and all participants will be graded on their knowledge of Dubai and customer care skills," said Victoria Smith Group Marketing Director of Wafi.

"Quiz scores will be added to the mystery shopping reports that have been submitted from March to September, which in turn will fairly determine the overall winner."

The winners will be announced at the Gala Dinner on 28th October at the Roof Top Gardens at Wafi.
