The scholarship recipients were awarded for their outstanding academic performance during high school. AUB will cover their tuition fees in full, in addition to other expenses.
The Merit Scholarship recipients this year included five sophomore and four freshman students who ranked at the top of their class, according to the admissions criteria of AUB. The eight students receiving the Baccalaureate Scholarship ranked among the top ten in the Lebanese Baccalaureate official exams. As for the President's Scholarship, it was given this year to three students - one from Yemen and two from Sudan - from the Middle East and North African region to promote regional diversity at AUB.
"I am extremely grateful and thrilled to have this opportunity to study at the best university in the region," said Do'aa Bulfaqih, a Yemeni freshman and a President's Scholarship recipient who plans to pursue her degree in business administration. Bulfaqih was recommended for the scholarship while studying at AMIDEAST in Yemen where she stood out for her academic talent.
The freshmen Merit Scholarship recipients are Rostamnejad Sina Sirous (International school of Chouweifat , Muscat), Kheireddine Sara Nadim (International School of Chouweifat , Sharja), Fouad Bashjawish (Clifton High school), Amanda Joanna Elias Kamar (Boylan Catholic High School). The sophomore Merit Scholarship recipients are Zakka Patrick Kamal (International College), El-Khatib Rafah Bassem (Saint Mary Orthodox College), Habib Bettina Antoine (Brumana High School), Elie Girgis Najem (Notre Dame de Jamhour College), and Edmond Elias Gaspard (College Marist Champville).
The Baccalaureate Scholarship recipients are Emane Joseph Abdallah (Aley Official Secondary school), Rasha Mohammad Al Khansa (Al- Batoul Secondary School), Zeinab Hassan Chehab (Al-Maaniyeh), Zalfa Hassan Hoballah (Khalid Ben Al-Walid Secondary School), Abeer Hassan Mahfouz (Sour Public Secondary school for Girls), Maria Samir Makarem (Saida Public Secondary school for Girls), Dania Ali Shakroun (Al-Mostapha Seocndary School - Sour), Serene Hassan Taleb (Al- Batoul Secondary School).
As for the President's Scholarship recipients, they are Do'aa Bulfaqih (AMIDEAST, Yemen), and Du'aa Abdel Rahman and Iman Abdel Wahab (Ahfad University, Sudan).
