The seminar is aimed to inform business leaders, in all business sectors, of the dramatic benefits that modern information and communications technology (ICT) can bring to their enterprises, and pursuit of maximum choice and world-class quality of service at the lowest possible price, by forming an independent body by the Business Users.
During the seminar, Mr. David Harrington, the Leader of the Regulatory Affairs Forum in the Communications Management Association (CMA) of the United Kingdom, will be presenting CMA's experience as a model association for establishing the Bahrain Telecommunications Business Users Association.
Mr. Harrington served in the Royal Air Force for 35 years in various capacities in military communications.
He left to join the systems engineering company, EDS, as Divisional Manager, Civil Systems, from where he joined the Telecommunications Managers Association (now CMA) as Director General in 1991.
He handed over his chief executive role in CMA in October 2002 and is now the Leader of CMA's Regulatory Affairs Forum.
Business Users Advisory Group Chairperson Mr. Ahmed bin Hindi, who will be chairing the seminar, said:
"We are pleased to welcome Mr. Harrington, who has extensive experience in the telecommunications and technology sector, particularly with regard to telecommunications business users' related issues, which will be reflected in his presentation. We are confident that this presentation will be very useful and will lead to productive discussions on protecting consumers' interests in the Kingdom".
Commenting on the seminar, TRA's Consumer Affairs Manager, Ms. Ghada Ebrahim said: "We strongly encourage all businesses to attend this seminar and participate in the forming an independent association for business users. This is an effective tool for businesses to organize and coordinate their effort, in order to voice their opinion and concerns, with the aim to achieve their goals in obtaining telecommunications services of good variety, quality of service and at good prices".
