- Jordan: Thursday, October 09 - 2008 at 09:44
- PRESS RELEASE
The Royal Health Awareness Society has started the implementation of KAFA project in a number of government pioneering schools around the Kingdom.
This phase includes the formation of traffic commissions in participating schools, naming the members of KAFA project, in addition to the initiation of field visits to participating schools and delivery of traffic bags to members to pave the start of the project's activities and the coordination with schools to work on the planning of a number of traffic awareness initiatives at schools and the surrounding societies.
The distributed traffic bags contain traffic booklets which include traffic guidance for ages (6-9 years old) and (10-14 years old), membership badges, in addition to "On the Road" CD for traffic awareness which was developed by the Jordanian Traffic Institute.
The project is executed in 24 government schools around the Kingdom in partnership with Ministry of Education. The selection of the schools is based on field studies to schools which recorded the highest rates in death tolls and injuries resulted from traffic accidents around these schools.
The project includes basic traffic concepts such as walking, road crossing, road manners, motorcycles driving, traffic accidents and traffic management. These concepts will be crystallized through encouraging members to implement interaction activities in schools and the surrounding societies, along with monthly non-curriculum activities in which the traffic booklet activities will be applied.
