SII appoints new Country Head for UAE

The Securities & Investment Institute (SII) is pleased to announce the appointment of Joseph Schwok ASI as its new Country Head for United Arab Emirates.

Joseph has worked with Legal & General as a financial consultant in Dorset, UK and prior to this as a stockbroker and IFA with Edward Jones in London. He is based at SII's office in Dubai.

SII opened its Dubai office in 2007 and has developed a mandatory licensing regime for the UAE brokerage community which will be implemented from November 2008.

SII has also developed a local regulatory examination for UAE and the Dubai International Financial Centre Regulatory paper.

Simon Culhane FSI, Chief Executive of SII said,

"We are extremely pleased that Joseph will be our Country Manager in the UAE. He is joining us at an exciting time, as we develop and work in partnership with the two UAE regulators ESCA and DFSA. These projects will ensure UAE firms and staff enhance their skills to meet the future challenges of the global financial services market."
