At least 40 drivers are expected to contest the Yellow Hat UAE Touring Car Championship, with the first of eight national race days taking place at Dubai Autodrome this October.
Cars will race in six categories under new competitive regulations which conform with international standards.
Yellow Hat's General Manager, Graham Markwick, said the sponsorship is an extension of the company's commitment to motorsport across the world.
Markwick said:
"Yellow Hat has a strong history of active involvement in motorsport. We are passionate about all things related to cars and our sponsorship of the 2008-09 UAE Touring Car Championships is a demonstration of our desire to be part of the expansion of national motorsport in the UAE."
Markwick added, "Our aim is to help raise standards and bring local drivers to a new level of competitiveness that will give them the opportunity to break through into international racing."
"Our involvement in last year's Autodrome Grand Racing event - and our support for Sam Zian, the young UAE-based racer - were precursors to taking on the title sponsorship for the new UAE Touring Car Championships and underlines our commitment to all things related to cars," he said.
"As we expand throughout the Middle East it is important that we are seen at the forefront of competitions of this calibre," Markwick concluded.
Yellow Hat is one of the world's largest chains of auto accessory superstore and service centres, with more then 500 stores throughout Asia and annual turnover topping $1bn. The Middle East's first Yellow Hat superstore opened in Times Square Centre on Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai earlier this year.
The second Yellow Hat store and service centre will open in Dubai later this month, with further expansion planned in Sharjah, Al Ain, and Abu Dhabi.
