  • United Arab Emirates: Saturday, October 11 - 2008 at 12:21

Dubai International Airport's Dhs16.52bn Terminal 3, the largest in the world, opens on Tuesday and is designed to promote a feeling of tranquility for travellers. Selected Emirates flights begin on October 14 from the terminal, which has been designed to handle 60 million passengers a year, which it is expected to reach within three years. Once the third concourse is added in 2011, that number will rise to 75 million. By December all Emirates flights will go via the new terminal, which should have been ready two years ago.
