Snow pros take on volleyball champs

Volleyball enthusiasts in Dubai were delighted by a cool twist to their popular sport this week, when a top international team played an exhibition match not on traditional sand - but on snow.

Ski Dubai, the region's only indoor ski resort, based at Mall of the Emirates, was the venue for the Swatch Volleyball Demonstration, played between the Swiss International volleyball team and Ski Dubai's very own 'Snow Pros' staff.

The Swiss team, which is touring Dubai until October 11th for the Swatch Federation of International Volleyball Championships, played their favourite sport for the first time on snow instead of on the beach and, were delighted by the whole experience.

Mike Mahoney, General Manager at Ski Dubai, said:

"It was a completely different experience for our staff and the Swiss team members to play another sport on the ski slopes apart from skiing. We witnessed an incredible level of competence and talent amongst both the teams and we look forward to hosting such exciting events again in future."
