RTA set to apply Performance Management System

The Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) recently carried out an intensive training programme exclusively meant for departmental directors and section managers at various RTA agencies, with a view to introduce Total Performance Management System.

Abdullah Al-Madani, CEO of RTA Corporate Support Services Sector, revealed that RTA is set to provide the requisite training for all departmental directors and section managers in various RTA agencies; namely Rail Agency, Traffic & Road Agency, Marine Agency, Public Transport Agency, Licensing Agency, Dubai Taxi Agency, Corporate Support Services Sector and Strategy & Corporate Governance Sector.

Al-Madani said:
"The aim is to introduce participants to the smart objectives of performance indicators system and how do they fit with the mission, vision and strategic objectives of the RTA. RTA is among the fastest growing government organizations in Dubai and is therefore seeking to adopt the best practices and principles of governance worldwide. To achieve this target, which is part of an initiative launched by Dubai Executive Council, RTA recently embarked on implementation of Total Performance Management System."


"In this regard, Human Resources & Development Department organized a collective training course & workshops as a first step. This course was designed to train administrative staff and educate them on performance management in all RTA departments and sections. The course also aimed to promote the skills of administrative staff in the field of identifying & designing Key Performance Indicators (KPI) related to the strategic objectives of the concerned department or section."

"The Course will witness participation of 150 administrative staff classified in 15 groups, each one consisting of 12 administrators. The course, which will be hosted in Taj Palace Hotel, Deira, will last for 45 working days; where each group of administrators will undergo two days of theoretical and attend a one-day workshop. The course and the accompanying workshops aim at enriching the participants with a package of KPIs to enable them measure the total performance of an agency. Participants will be able to identify the core elements to RTA success, and accordingly identify the corresponding targets which have to be realized in a given time frame."
