Special MEIFF award ceremony to honour Sir Ben Kingsley and others

Tonight at 10.15pm a special awards ceremony will be held on the patio outside of L'Auberge Restaurant, Emirates Palace.

Three international producers will be honoured for their commitment to the creation of socially-responsible cinema. These producers are:

- Jeff Skoll - former President of ebay and now CEO of LA-based Participant Productions.

- Jake Ebert - Chairman of National Geographic Films.

- Kamran Elahian - Chairman and Co-founder of Global Catalyst Partners.

In addition, Sir Ben Kingsley will be presented with the Black Pearl Award for Cross -Cultural Contributions to Cinema.

The awards ceremony will be followed by an invitation-only MEIFF Tribute Dinner for Nacer Khemir, one of the most established filmmakers in the Arab world. The dinner is being held in honour of Khemir's 60th birthday this year. His film The Dove's Lost Necklace is screening throughout the festival.
