  • United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, October 14 - 2008 at 08:40

A new ferry service is being developed to connect the UAE emirates of Dubai and Sharjah, Khaleej Times has reported. The Dubai Ferry service, which is slated to start its experimental runs on the Dubai Creek from October next year, will connect the neighbouring emirates at a later stage, Mattar Al Tayer, Chairman of the Board and Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority said on Monday. The first phase of the project would see 10 ferries, which will carry 100 passengers each, getting fully operational by March 2010. Six ferries will start plying on a trial run from October next year, while the remaining four will arrive by March 2010.
