WRDC, Abu Dhabi Chamber ink MoU to develop Al Gharbia

The Western Region Development Council (WRDC) - the central co-coordinating body leading development and promoting opportunity in Al Gharbia, the Western Region of Abu Dhabi - today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ADCCI).

The MoU is aimed at closer cooperation between the two establishments to boost the investment potential of Al Gharbia. The agreement also outlines an implementation plan to involve the private sector in the Emirate to enhance entrepreneurial avenues for the residents of the region.

The MoU was signed by H.E. Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei, Director General of WRDC, and H.E. Mohammed Rashed Al Hameli, ADCCI Director-General.

Commenting on the partnership, H.E. Mohamed Hamad Bin Azzan Al Mazrouei said:
"The Western Region Development Council's MoU with the Abu Dhabi Chamber of Commerce and Industry is a vital step towards boosting the investment potential to develop Al Gharbia with active participation of the private sector. This MoU is part of our initiatives aimed at helping and improving the lives of the residents in the region."


Al Mazrouei added: "The WRDC and ADCCI have also agreed to consolidate efforts to boost its investment potential and fast track the development of Al Gharbia. Our development plan includes involving and training the local community and ensuring that they have the capability to play an effective role in the process."

As per the MoU, WRDC and ADCCI will foster collaboration by forming a joint committee to promote investment and enhance entrepreneurship, especially in the SMEs. The joint panel will also conduct training programs to develop the skills of the citizens and adopt a transparent strategy to boost investments in the region.

In his comments, H.E. Mohammed Rashed Al Hameli said:
"The MoU with WRDC is a major step towards involving the private sector and international delegation visits in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi to play a fundamental developmental role in Al Gharbia. We have agreed to work closely to create a better and attractive investment climate for potential investors in the region. At the same time, our long-term objectives center on achieving economic development in the region by enhancing entrepreneurial avenues, as well as to help improve the quality of living conditions for the residents, their families, and the local community as a whole."


WRDC and ADCCI will also exchange studies, research, workshops and collaborate closely on laws and regulations to promote investments in the region. The two establishments will conduct regular meetings and delegation visits to evaluate the progress achieved towards the development of Al Gharbia.

WRDC is continuing its work towards helping the local community of Al Gharbia evolve and build the region.
