Kempinski Mall of the Emirates strengthens e-Commerce capabilities

With a growing number of tourists booking their stays online, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates is strengthening its e-commerce capabilities with the appointment of Shawn Vaz as e-Commerce Coordinator.

In his new role, Vaz will be coordinating all website related activities, including all modifications and updates on the hotels own website, search engine optimization for all common and popular search engines with the aim to strategically place the hotels name on the world wide web; therefore direct an increasing number of potential clients to the hotels website to promote online bookings.

Functions will also include further elevating the hotels name through the different channels such as social networking sites, blogs, and pod-casting thus boosting the hotel's e-Commerce capabilities to further consolidate its market share regionally and internationally.

"An increasing number of clients are using our online facilities to reserve and communicate with the hotel. We see e-Commerce as another step by which we can identify new customers, engage existing clients, and we are confident that Shawn's expertise will be a great addition to our goal to have an efficient and effective e-Commerce in position."
said Holger Schroth, General Manager, Kempinski Hotel Mall of the Emirates.

Before being formally employed by the hotel, Vaz worked as part of a team that helped set up the IT systems for the hotel, while working as IT supervisor for Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi, a Kempinski-managed hotel.

Vaz's previous engagements include stints at Digital Computers before moving to Dolphin Energy and Micro Power Computers holding technical and IT related positions.

Vaz graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Portsmouth in the UK, and obtained his Higher National Diploma in Computers from the Scottish Qualifications Authority.

In addition to setting up IT systems and infrastructure, Vaz is also an expert in computer assembly, upgrading and installation, trouble shooting, as well as networking installation and configuration.
