Ras Laffan Industrial City wins the Seatrade Energy, Oil & Gas Award

Ras Laffan Industrial City (RLC) grabbed the limelight at the Seatrade Middle East and Indian Subcontinent Awards ceremony by winning the "Energy: Oil & Gas Award" in a prestigious Gala Dinner on 9th of October 2008 held in the Intercontinental Hotel, Dubai Festival City.

RLC has once again achieved a milestone after receiving the 2007 Seatrade Port Authority Award last year.

said Sh. Khalid Bin Khalifa Al Thani, Director of Ras Laffan Industrial City.

The Seatrade Middle East & Indian Subcontinent Awards has established themselves over two decades as the premier maritime awards scheme worldwide, and is often referred to as the "Oscars" of the international shipping industry.

The Seatrade Awards scheme rewards innovative solutions for safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly shipping, in keeping with the goals and objectives of the International Maritime Organization.

The "Energy: Oil and Gas Award" reiterates Ras Laffan Industrial City's importance in the world oil and gas arena in terms of investment, growth, export and transport.

Celebrity TV broadcaster and former BBC anchor Tim Sebastian, was the host for the evening that included heads of organizations and senior executives of the region's Maritime Industry.

A distinguished panel of independent judges within the Shipping and Maritime Industry have assessed the entries according to six fundamental principles: Contribution to the development of the maritime sector across the region; Innovation, either technical, operational or commercial; Commitment to safety & quality; Social & environmental responsibilities; Business enterprise and achievement; and Engagement with training and development of personnel.

Winning this prominent award illustrates the position of Ras Laffan Industrial City amongst the key players in the maritime and shipping industry and braces its position as the one of the fastest growing industrial cities and Energy capital of the World.
