Engineer Khalid Al Awadi, director of Gas Operations Department , said that the move was based on an agreement between the Corporation and the Gas Authority of the Government of Ras Al Khaimah to transport RAK own gas using Emarat pipeline network.
He added:
Work on the completion of the station took a full year, during which the preparation of plans, drawings, economic viability, distribution network capacity, and security and safety procedures followed during the compilation and re-pumping, transportation and distribution across the network were completed."
The new station will increase the volumes of gas transported via Emarat Gas Pipeline Network over the next years, and raise its efficiency . The new station will continue to supply the gas network for the next ten years at an average of 50,000 Million British Thermal Units (MMBTU) of gas per day (280,000 IG Diesel ) and expected to generate a net profit amounting to 228 million dirham over the next ten years based on the current gas transportation tariffs.
Al Awadi clarified that the station usage & duties can now be extended and expanded for many years in the event of new gas fields discovery in Ras Al Khaimah or new gas supply from the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Sultanate of Oman.
