During the show, Ford will launch their latest in car communications and entertainment system called 'SYNC', a Ford exclusive technology based on Microsoft Auto software. This unique voice activated, fully integrated and Bluetooth-based feature will be shown on the all new 2009 Ford Flex full size crossover, which just debuted across the Middle Eastern Ford dealerships. Ford Flex is the Official GITEX Technology Week Car.

Waldo Galan, managing director of Ford Middle East, said:
"Timing couldn't be more perfect than to mark the regional launch of Ford SYNC at the region's premier technology show. We are thrilled to be part of GITEX, not only because of the unique opportunity to showcase our latest products at such a prestigious and highly visible event, but also because Ford is the first automotive manufacturer to extend its reach to the world of consumer electronics in the region. We have the perfect products for this show and we are confident that both SYNC and Flex will create considerable amount of consumer interest by the time GITEX 2008 wraps up."

SYNC provides consumers the convenience and flexibility to bring into their vehicle nearly any mobile phone or digital media player and operate them using voice commands or the vehicle's steering wheel or radio controls. The factory installed software is designed to change the way consumers use digital media, portable music players and mobile phones.

Vimal Sethi, Developer and Platform Group director, Microsoft Gulf, said:
"Microsoft has created a set of platforms to respond to the growing desire of drivers to remain connected to their information and entertainment on the go and to enable carmakers and their suppliers to meet this demand. Microsoft and Ford have a shared vision to drive consumer excitement and SYNC delivers an in-car system that is an important step toward achieving this vision. Using software that bridges the automotive and consumer electronics industries, SYNC will help revolutionize the driving experience by providing a simple system that intelligently connects mobile phones, music players and more."

SYNC is available on most 2009MY Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. Visitors to the Ford stand (C10-7) inside the Sheikh Maktoum Hall will be able to experience SYNC inside the all-new Ford Flex, the Official GITEX Technology Week Car.

Flex is the new, innovative, full-size, 7-passenger crossover that has been making waves in North America since its introduction a few months back. It has a daring and distinctive design coupled with a stylish interior, a smart package and unmatched features and technologies such as SYNC, ambient lighting, a class-exclusive refrigerated 2nd row console, next-gen touch keyless entry, an EasyFuel capless fuel filler and a Sony audio system.
