The tower was designed by the world renowned architect Helmut Jahn, famous for the Deutsche Post building and the Sony Center in Berlin. The tower will soar approximately 112 stories into the sky and will offer panoramic city and blue water views from its prestigious location on the Corniche.
It will be home to a luxurious hotel, luxury apartments, and lavish penthouses. The building will also include substantial offices' floor area set to create an amazing work ambience.
The Exhibition Center, adjacent to the Tower, will provide expansive retail area dedicated to luxury brands and exhibition space. It is destined to become an important regional and international exhibition location.
"We are pleased to be entering this exciting new phase of the Doha Exhibition Center and Tower," said Mr. Ghanem Bin Saad al-Saad, Qatari Diar CEO.
He added:
"This project will redefine the Doha skyline for years to come, and will help further position Qatar as a truly forward-looking country."
The first construction package was for the piling works for the overall project, and the second, released just a few months ago, involved construction of the Exhibition Center. The second package is due for award before the end of this year.
Qatari Diar, an investment company of the Qatari government, is wholly-owned by the Qatar Investment Authority.
