du to showcase content and managed services at Gitex Technology Week 2008

du, the UAE's integrated telecom operator, announced its participation for the third consecutive year at the upcoming Gitex Technology Week 2008, the region's premier IT event, scheduled to take place from October 19-23, 2008.

du will make its debut at Gitex Shopper this year, sponsor the Gitex Media Centre and organise stand activities at the du stand with a focus on exclusive content and products and services.

du has also launched a limited period offer for online booking of Black Berry Bold through du's e-shop. The product will officially be launched during Gitex.

Customers are now able to book their Black Berry Bold through du website www.du.ae. This offer is valid based on first come first serve bases for limited number of BlackBerry Bold handsets.

With the promise of a power-packed presence at both consumer and business segments, Osman Sultan, CEO, du, said:

The stand will showcase innovative content as well as catering to the various market segments.

Spread across an area of 850 square metres across multiple levels in Zabeel Hall (Z-G10), the du stand portrays the company's integrated services from Landline, to TV, mobile services, Broadband, as well as BlackBerry. The heart of the stand includes an innovatively designed central 'experience theatre' built around the theme of Symphony TV.

This theme provides a sneak preview of how we see content. The experience theatre will also host daily presentations and interactive sessions on current telecom technologies open for all visitors lead by industry experts.

Some of the topics of those sessions will be the how's and why's of Broadcast, key drivers for the growth of wholesale telecom market and capacity demand in the Middle East, The Wi-Max Broadband in the UAE, du Network's plans for High Capacity, Pan-Emirates Network, the e-shop concept form du, Next generation transport network - the Dubai Metro case study as well as other major reveals.

The du stand will also act as a 'one stop shop' offering interactive content through self-contained 'Knowledge Booths' and interactive pods for visitors to learn more about du's products, browse through du's product brochures, website and also watch du TV commercials.

Visitors to the stand can browse through these self-help booths for information relating to voice solutions, BlackBerry services, du MyWorld portal, payments, broadband, convergence services and promotional offers.

This Gitex, du will be showcasing a range of content services from the world of mobile entertainment in Arabic, International, Bollywood and more. In addition to the range of content there will be innovative ways to access content on display.

du at Gitex Shopper 2008


The du stand at Gitex Shopper will be multi-functional to create a suitable environment for customer interaction, involving purchasing and SIM card activations.

It is designed to be a replica of the du shop in functionality and will offer the du Visitor Mobile Line and Blackberry solutions among other products.

Customers will be able to choose from special mobile-sim bundling offers that includes du Pay as you Go SIM card and mobile handsets from Nokia, Sony Ericsson, Motorola, LG, HTC and Samsung provided by Axiom, Jumbo and Eros. The offers will be only available at the du stand at Gitex Shopper. du products will also be sold through other partner stands such as Jumbo and Jackie's stands in Gitex Shopper.

du Media Centre at Gitex 2008


du is sponsoring the Gitex 2008 media centre for the third consecutive year. The bigger than ever facility this year has been further upgraded, taking into consideration feedback received from members of the media.

The aesthetically pleasing and modern media centre has been demarcated into tastefully-designed zones for media members to conduct their work efficiently using fully equipped state-of-the-art workstations with the latest communications facilities.

The "newsroom zone" offers convenience of small touches like WiFi, stationary items, fax machines, scanners, printers, photocopy machines and landlines to ensure maximum productivity with ease of mind.

du also created a dedicated website for the media centre where reporters can easily access all news items related to the show as well as download of imagery, updates on events during the show. An extra benefit for the media centre website users is the ability to register for sms updates, a feature that allows reporters to get updated on upcoming events during Gitex during the show.

A "chill out zone" has also been built for media members to unwind and relax ahead of their busy schedule or to take breaks from work. It is attached to a snack bar and gaming units.

New this year, is a "networking zone" created for PR agencies to interact with members of the media.
