Continual improvement is one of the fundamental principles of ISO 9001 and business excellence, thus making it an important factor in the success of any business organisation. Moreover, the establishment of the new Subgroup leverages the growing popularity of various best practices models such as Benchmarking, Six Sigma, Reengineering, Lean and other improvement-focused methodologies among business organisations and professionals, by providing a definitive venue to facilitate the required knowledge and competencies in the field of continual improvement.
Marwan Al Sawaleh, Chairman, DQG, said:
"The creation of the Continual Improvement Subgroup is a testament of Dubai Quality Group's unwavering commitment to promote the interest of local business organisations. We firmly believe that the economic strength of Dubai and the rest of the country emanates from a robust, resilient, dynamic and quality-oriented local business community, thus we consider it crucially important for business organisations to incorporate continual improvement initiatives in their corporate strategies."
"With the establishment of the Continual Improvement Subgroup, DQG enhances its ability to support organisations in adopting critically important improvement-focused initiatives. On behalf of the DQG family, I congratulate the members of the executive committee of the new Subgroup; we trust in their capacity, expertise and knowledge to achieve remarkable success in the area of continual improvement," added Al Sawaleh.
DQG has appointed Sunil Thawani, Senior Manager - Business Excellence of Sama Dubai, as the pioneering Chairman of the Continual Improvement Subgroup. Other members of the Executive Committee are Vice Chairman Khaled Khattab, Executive Director - Business Excellence, Dubai Holding; General Secretary Prashant Nasery, Projects and Quality Manager, The Kanoo Group; and Members Ihab Arafa, Can Department Manager, CROWN Emirates Company Ltd.; Dr. Kanak Madrecha, Practice Head-Business Excellence Centre, DP World and Ninad Pradhan, Consultant-Business Excellence Centre, DP World; and Dhananjayan M, Business Excellence Consultant, M/S S.S. Lootah.
Members of the executive committee were chosen after a rigorous selection process. In order to be named to the executive committee, candidates must have no conflict of interest, comprehensive knowledge and experience, commitment to the Subgroup's vision, and commitment of time.
The idea of establishing a Subgroup was hatched in March 2008 when a group of executives met with DQG to discuss ways to facilitate continual improvement initiatives. DQG swiftly organised several meetings to hammer out the details and identify the mission, vision and activities of the new Subgroup. The Continual Improvement Sub Group will involve DQG members in rolling out its vision and mission.
