MBRPLD has invited Luis Guigermo Plata Paez, Colombian Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism, to be the main speaker of both sessions, which will be held at the Dubai School of Government.

"It is highly commendable for Dubai to initiate a forward-thinking leadership development program through the Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development. It is likewise an honour for me to be able to share my expertise in the field of leadership, particularly in the trade and industry sector, which I believe is of significant importance to the UAE's rapidly growing economy. My presence here also serves to further strengthen the bilateral relations between the two countries and will be a key step towards overcoming future challenges and opening new mutual growth opportunities."said Luis Guigermo Plata Paez, Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism, Republic of Colombia.

Adel Al Shared, Director of MBRPLD said:
"The Blue Ocean Forum and Dubai Policy Watch have delivered a positive impact on the participants of the Young Leaders and Government Leaders Programs as they provide an enriching overview of the realities in the governmental and corporate worlds. A huge factor that has greatly contributed to the success of these training activities is the amount of knowledge and expertise brought to the table by our carefully handpicked speakers. As such, we are grateful to the Colombian Minister for Trade, Industry and Tourism, since his valuable participation provided new insights, especially regarding the challenges being faced by Colombia in the wake of globalization."

Plata, who holds an MBA from the Harvard Business School, has been credited for launching the global campaign to revitalize the image of Colombia as part of his programs in running the country's USD 135 billion economy. Plata's successful efforts both in the public and private sectors were greatly rewarded when he was selected by the World Economic Forum at Davos in 2006 as one of the top Young Global Leaders.

Eman Al Motawweh, participant of the Program, said:
"Within a short time, I can truly feel that I have gained more than I had expected in terms of boosting my knowledge and practical skills, while improving my confidence in making high-stakes strategic decisions, which is very important to be a successful leader. Meeting and socialising with world-renowned personalities has helped a lot in making me improve my personal outlook. As such, I look forward to a lively and highly informative session with all speakers that the program will host in the future, whose influence, experience and expertise in matters concerning international trade and different sectors will be invaluable nuggets of wisdom for all program participants, especially considering the global prominence the program has gained."

The Blue Ocean Forum has been developed as one of the Young Leaders Program's seven components, which also include Executive Programs; Work Projects; Workshops; Personal Development Plan; Personal Coaching; and Virtual Learning Resource Centres.

Previously known as the Young Leaders Networking Event, the Blue Ocean Forum is held up to four times in a year.

Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD):

The Mohammed Bin Rashid Programme for Leadership Development (MBRPLD) is an innovative leadership program designed to develop future national leaders capable of promoting the sustainable development of the United Arab Emirates.

The long-term training program, initiated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, consists of four programs: Young Leaders, Promising Leaders, Government Leaders, and the Director General Majlis Program.

The MBRPLD strategy, which involves scouting the country for the most promising young nationals and preparing them to take charge of the UAE's future development initiatives, has been widely recognized for its critical role in the professional development of current government leaders.

The program has recently been bolstered by alliances with world-class institutions Duke Corporate Education and INSEAD, the business school of the world, in a move to further develop MBRPLD's comprehensive training schedule and expand its educational resources.
The program was launched in 2003 according to a long-term multi-tiered plan to ensure the ongoing development of leaders in all governmental institutions; to ensure the development of leaders with world-class skills and expertise; to increase the ability to retain highly qualified employees; and to make good use of the experience and potential of current leaders.
