Daman CEO, Dr. Michael Bitzer, stated that he is extremely pleased with this first stage in the planned automation of the entire health insurance process. Encouraged by the successful implementation of e-claims, Daman aims to have all the other e-Daman services implemented by January 2009.
'We are currently working on launching the whole range of e-Daman services for all our operations, which will allow our customers and providers the opportunity to conclude their insurance transactions and claims electronically, rather than having to visit a centre - saving time for them and us.' Having been the first health insurer in the UAE to have completed processing a claim until payment he added 'Fully implementing HA-AD's regulations will take healthcare in the Emirate firmly into the future, and we are pleased to adopt such a progressive scheme so early.'
Engineer Zaid Al Siksek, CEO of HA-AD commented that the regulatory authority is very pleased that DAMAN and Oasis Hospital have implemented electronic claims. He adds, 'As e-claims are now mandatory for all hospital claims related to the Thiqa Program for Nationals, we expect other hospitals to follow with their own electronic submissions within a very short time.'
Mr. David Printy, CEO of Oasis Hospital stated:
'We are honored to be the first hospital to employ the new electronic system, and are glad to see it operational after months of planning. We hope it will be applied across all hospitals. Electronic claims will facilitate insurance procedures for both patients and ourselves and replace paper with the latest technology'
Dr. Philipp Vetter, Head of Strategy at HA-AD added, 'E-claims will reduce the administrative paper burden, speed up payments and increase transparency.'
HA-AD published its e-claims regulations earlier this year after an intensive consultation process with stakeholders across the industry.
